50th Birthday Recipes
Fajitas Marinade: My mom turned 50 and we planned to celebrate her birthday with everyone wearing 50s theme. For this special event we made classic recipes and my mom just loved the way we planned everything. 2 Tbsp oil 2 Tbsp lemon juice 1 clove garlic, minced 1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt 1 1/2 tsp oregano 1 1/2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp chili powder 1/2 tsp paprika 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper 1 1/2 lb. steak or chicken, cut in strips Fajitas: 1/2 cup cilantro (optional) 1/2 cup chopped onions 1 cup red peppers 1/2 cup sliced green onions 3 to 4 Tbsp oil 8 tortillas Directions: In skillet, quickly saute vegetables in oil until lightly browned. Remove from pan. Saute meat 4 to 5 minutes. Return vegetables to pan and toss with meat. Spoon into tortillas. (of course, marinade the meat in the marinade for at least an hour before beginning) At the end of the party, everyone asked me to mail them this recipe and the group picture of everyone wearing the 50s costumes. |

Your 50th birthday would be a great time for a surprise birthday party. Half a century is a milestone birthday and should be a huge celebration. To plan this oh so special event, come up with a great theme. It could be a "This is your life Party" which would include testimonials, pictures and videos if possible or an "EDDIE PARTY" which would reflect the 50 year old style so that everyone would come dressed as Eddie in plaid shirts and forties pants etc. Whatever themes you choose make this half-century celebration a very special one. You could also decide to make it more elaborate and rent a room in a restaurant with a band and or DJ. This could be an elaborate affair so that the guests and the birthday person can get all dressed up. Be sure to have 50's cupcake with lots of sprinkles for all the guests.
