A book party is a great idea for a kid’s party and this could have sub theme of one of many kids’ books like Charlottes Web, Mother Goose, Dr. Seuss or Nancy Drew. Let's say that you choose Charlottes Web. Your invites could have a spider’s web on them or the famous pig. For this theme you could decorate like a barn with bales of hay, plastic spiders and red checkered table cloths. A large spider web could with purchased at a Halloween store. For fun and games you could play a treasure hunt where each guest gets a piece of string which they have to follow to the end to find their prize (like a spider web) Then you could play "Hot Rat" (Hot Potato) and call him” Templeton" from the movie, pin the fly on the web (pin the tail on the donkey). Another fun activity might be an arts and crafts project where you could have the kids make spiders out of buttons and pipe cleaners. Treats for this type of party could be pretzel sticks, sunflower seeds, popcorn, goldfish and candy. Serve lemonade and apple cider for drinks. Pigs in a basket would make the perfect main course, these are tiny wieners wrapped in pastry and rolled up and baked.
To end this Book Party make cupcakes in the shape of pig faces with pink icing and spiders on their webs out of candy on top.
