It's important to know who you're baking for, and the general consensus when it comes to ideas and flavors.
You could also make two different batches of brunch cupcakes, one for each meal that is included in the title (breakfast and lunch). For the 'breakfast' muffins you could make them fruity, as everyone knows that breakfast is supposed to be the most important and healthiest meal of the day. However, for the 'lunch' cupcakes, you could make them sweet and fun and sugary. That way you have the best of both worlds!
