Before you begin to create your cat cupcakes you will need to gather the following items: your cupcakes, frostings, and food colorings, butter knives, licorice strings, chocolate chips, candy corn, other candies if wanted.
One of the first steps in creating your cat cupcakes would be to decide if you want all the cats to be the same or, if you wish for them to be different. If you are looking at a variety of different colored cat cupcakes then, be sure that you have separate bowls for each frosting. You may also use just plain white frosting and, just add a few drops of food coloring to make the desired color.
The next step in creating you’re your cat cupcakes would be to the frost the cupcakes the desired color that you are seeking. For example if you want a black cat, the frosting would be black etc. Be sure that after you are done frosting you have a smooth frosting surface to work on
Now that your cat cupcakes are frosted it is time to begin the real fun. Take your licorice and cut it into two inch strands. These will become the whiskers of your cat. Apply three of these strands to each side of the cupcake. Please note you may have push the strands completely into the cupcake for them to stay in place.
Next are the eyes of your cat for these you can either use chocolate chips or M&M’s, most people prefer chocolate chips. This is the stage where your cat cupcake really begins to take shape. For the eyes of the cat stick the point end of the chocolate chip into the frosting, reverse the step for the nose so it will have a pointy nose.
Finally, you can create the mouth of your cat cupcake by either using left strands of licorice or by sampling applying a thin line of food coloring. The licorice does seem to work better however. There you have it your cat cupcake is now complete. Tip: you can dress up your cat for holidays by changing your candies up and dressing them up more.
