Chicken Stew
Flag Day is a celebration of our Flag, the veterans who helped defend it and our country. Make that celebration a tasty one with this yummy Chicken Stew for dinner. It's a great way to end the day or delight the guests at a party.Cut up a pound of Chicken and put it in a large pan with three quarts of water, one large onion, one half pound of lean ham cut into small pieces and simmer gently for two hours. Add three pints of tomatoes, one pint oflima beans, four large Irish
potatoes diced, one pint of grated corn, one tablespoon of salt, one fourth teaspoon pepper, a small pod of red pepper. Cover and simmer gently for one more hour stirring frequently to prevent scorching. Add three onces of butter and serve hot.
This stewed chicken doesn't make a really thick sauce, but if you separate the liquid and add some chicken gravy mix it's an easy way to create a gravy sauce.

A Flag Day Party will center on the Flag. Celebrating the Stars and Stripes and the day it was adopted as the Flag is a fun idea for a party. Send your invites with pictures of the flag on them. Decorate with flags everywhere and red, white and blue balloons, streamers, and party ware. If you have this party close to June 14, Flag Day, the weather will be great and an outdoor barbeque would be the perfect idea. Being outdoors, a water balloon toss contest would be a fun activity. Different races you could do are: 3 legged race, egg race, and wheel barrel race. Prizes, of course will be miniature flags or red white and blue candies. A barbeque could be foods like chicken, hamburgers, ribs, hot dogs, potato salad, Cole slaw, fruit salad, and for dessert: pudding, Jell-O, cookies and cup cakes with red, white and blue sprinkles.
