When a fraternity party is held, you know it means business since it's a gathering of men who see each other more as brothers than friends, so why not mark such a special bond with some fraternity cupcakes? While this might seem like a daunting task (supplying cakes to a hoard of men who want to appear macho and masculine to everyone else), it's quite easy to win them over once they understand the time and effort you put into your cupcakes, as well as how delicious they are!
Take a close look at the party supplies and decide from there what your fraternity cupcakes are going to look or taste like. How about some nice car cupcakes? Some soccer-themed cupcakes will go down a treat. Even better, what about beer cupcakes? Of course, I don't mean real beer, but root beer! This is a fantastic recipe that even a male-dominated party could never resist. Below are the ingredients and instructions you will need.
For your root beer cupcakes, you will need: 1 and 1/8 cups of all purpose flour, ¼ cup of dark cocoa powder, 1 and ¼ teaspoons of baking soda, ½ a teaspoon of salt, ¾ cup of brown sugar, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 2 teaspoons of root beer concentrate, a 1/3 cup of root beer, ½ a cup and 1 tablespoon of heavy cream, ½ a cup of butter (melted) and 2 tablespoons of sour cream. This will make 12 cupcakes.
To cook your root beer cupcakes, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, whisk the egg and sugar until smooth with no lumps. Add the cream, butter and vanilla, and mix until combined. Stir in the sour cream. Sift dry ingredients together and add to wet mixture. Add root beer concentrate and root beer. Mix until batter is smooth. Line a cupcake tin with liners and using a heaping 1/4 cup measure, add batter to each cup. Bake for 15-18 minutes. Let cool before frosting.
For the frosting for your root beet cupcakes, you will need: 4 cups of powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons of milk, ½ a teaspoon of rootbeer extract, and as an optional ingredient you could put in a tiny amount of molasses.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream butter until smooth. On low speed, add powdered sugar one cup at a time, increasing speed to bring the frosting together. Add milk and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth. Add root beer extract to remaining frosting in the bowl and beat until it comes together.
And there you have fabulous root beer cupcakes that any fraternity will be happy to receive! Soon your cupcakes will be the talk of the college, university or union where the fraternity reside, and who knows, you may even be asked to bake up another batch of wonderful root beet cupcakes next time someone is having a party!
