Luau means 'feast' so we know what this Hawaiian Luau Party will be all about. This will be a gathering of family and friends to enjoy good food, good company and good times! There may be spontaneous ukulele or guitar playing, with everyone singing. Your invites could have Hawaiian hula dancers on them and say something like" Aloha, You're invited to Our Luau." For the party itself, decorate with lots of leaves, and flowers and leis. If possible hire a Hula Dancer or a Flame Swallower. One fun game might be to have a limbo pole and see who can go so low. Then how about a Hula contest for the lay men who, might otherwise never do the the Hula. This will bring a lot of laughs to all who participate and watch. Prices for the winners could be Flower Leis. Play Hawaiian Music to get everyone in the mood like "Tiny Bubbles" and Elvis's "Blue Hawaii." Traditional Hawaiian food should include: fresh pineapples, papaya, macadamia nut treats. No Luau would be complete without "Poi" the popular side dish served at most Luaus. You don't have to roast a pig in the ground to make it an authentic Luau, try other outdoor foods such as barbequed chicken, ribs, steaks and all the wonderful side dishes such as salads, potatoes, rice, noodles, vegetables and corn on the cob. Desserts could be cake and ice cream plus other popular items like: cookies, pastries, brownies and tarts.
