Planning a Hollywood-themed party featuring Hollywood cupcakes for someone you love who loves movies or aspiring to be a star or just loves the gossip and glamour of Hollywood is a perfect way to show that you care. For Hollywood cupcakes you will need chocolate or vanilla flavored cupcakes. Once the cupcakes are baked and cooled place them in cupcake liners ready to be adorned with your Hollywood toppings. Hollywood themed cupcake liners can be found in any party supplies stores. Gold or silver cupcake liners will help to accentuate the theme. To decorate you will need butter cream frosting, fondant in different colors to match the theme and various templates. If you are not able to find any readymade templates you can make your own by tracing the shapes on cardstock. Make sure that the size of templates match you cupcake size and cover the templates with contact paper.
For Hollywood cupcakes you can make templates of stars, clapboards, road signs like Sunset Blvd, Hollywood Blvd and Rodeo Drive, film rolls, movie camera, Hollywood sign and palm trees as cupcake toppers. Roll out the fondant and cut out the shapes using templates. Remember to use appropriate colored fondant for the shapes. Using decorating gel you can further embellish these templates to your heart’s content. Apply a layer of frosting on the cupcakes and place one template on each cupcake. For the Hall of Fame star topper, first place a black square fondant on the frosting to look like a tile and then place a yellow star on top. Using decorator’s gel you can pipe in the guest of honor’s name on the star.
Instead of making Hollywood cupcake toppers with fondant you can print out pictures of Hollywood aspects and attach them to toothpicks to stick in the cupcakes. Another way is to print the pictures to size and stick them on star shaped cardstock to be placed on the cupcake frosting. Sprinkle the frosting with cake luster or star sprinkles to add glitz and glamour to your Hollywood cupcakes.
