High Class Orange Ginger Snaps That Hollywood party isn't going to be very classy unless you've got some great appetizers to put on the menu. It's going to be even classier if you add these High Class Ginger Snaps to the party tray. Snap! 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening (butter or margarine work too) 1 egg 1 c. persimmon pulp mixed with 1 t. baking soda 1/2 t. each cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice 1 c. chopped dates or raisins 1 c. chopped nuts (walnuts are good) 1-3/4 to 2 c. flour (depending on how soft you want the cookies) 1 t. baking powder 1/2 t. salt Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and mix well. Add persimmon pulp (it will be gelatinous with the soda mixed in) and dry ingredients. Fold together. Add dates and nuts last. Drop onto greased cookie sheet from spoon. Bake at 350 F for about 10 to 12 minutes Ginger is such a wonderful root I wonder why there aren't more cookie recipes out there that use it. You'll absolutely love this one. |

A Hollywood Party should be filled with stars, glamour and glitz and will be exciting to host. Start with invitations which should reflect the theme and could be made to look like clap boards, inviting guests to the most glamorous star-studded party ever. Run a red carpet out the front door so guests will get the picture that they are the stars. Have them dress as their favorite star i.e.: Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Marlon Brando, or even Johnny Depp. Decorate your party house or room with film cans, movie posters, Hollywood signs, director’s chairs, clap boards, top hats and canes. Don't forget lots of boas. A fun activity might be to have a 20 questions quiz on Movie Memorabilia. You could also hire a photographer to act as paparazzi. Champagne would be the drink of choice with mini appetizers and then make everything else Hollywood like “Winning Roles," for wraps and roll -ups and “Movie Mogul Meatballs". Garnish food with edible gold leaves. Finish with fine desserts (and the award goes to) and present gold statues made out of chocolate to the winners of the games and activities.
