Labor Day is a nation-wide holiday in America, and is a great time to bake some home-made cupcakes that everyone will love. Held in honor of major trade unions, as well as President Grover Cleveland who made it an official American holiday after many workers were shot fighting for it. Labor Day is now celebrated in the whole of America and is recognised all over the world as a national American holiday, so it's a great time to think about making some cupcakes to go along side your Labor Day party supplies.
Since Labor Day is a patriotic holiday, it's only normal that your cupcakes resemble some form or patriotism and pride in America. There are plenty of recipes available that will allow you to create great American cupcakes, but you could always use your imagination to create your own patriotic cupcakes, regardless of how simple or complex they are. You could use national symbols such as the American flag or the eagle, or you could use things like fireworks. Anything you want can be put on your cupcakes, but there's a fantastic recipe below that will have everyone singing the national anthem with American pride!
What you will need for your Labor Day cupcakes: 18.25oz of white cake mix, ½ a teaspoon of blue food coloring, ½ a teaspoon of red food coloring, 16oz of vanilla frosting and red, white & blue sprinkles.
To make your Labor Day cupcakes, here's the recipe: In a small bowl, combine 1 1/3 cups of batter and blue food coloring. In another bowl, combine 1 1/3 cups of batter and red food coloring. Leave remaining batter plain. Fill paper-lined cupcake cups with 2 tablespoons of red batter, 2 tablespoons of plain batter and 2 tablespoons of blue batter. Bake at 350° for 20-24 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pans to wire racks to cool completely. Frost with vanilla frosting and decorate with sprinkles.
