Basic Potato Casserole
Those Labor Day events won't be complete without a good potato casserole to gnosh on. While you are relaxing and enjoying the day, these potatos can be cooking in the oven. Plus, they are so creamy that guests will want seconds
.750 g potatoes
salt
bunch of fresh marjoram (dried otherwise)
250g cream
2 egg yolks
freshly ground pepper
40 g butter
75g ham
Wash, peel and slice the potatoes thinly. In lightly salted, rolling boiling water, cook for 5 mins.
Drain the potatoes thoroughly in a sieve. Take the Marjoram from the stalks, and chop finely. Mix salt, pepper and marjoram with the egg yolks and cream.
Grease a casserole dish, and place half the potatoes in the form. Chop the ham finely, and spread half over the potatoes. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the layers. Place the rest of the potatoes in the dish, and then pour the egg mix over the top. Sprinkle with ham, and dot the top with the remainder of the butter used for greasing the dish.
Cook on 375 F for 30-40 mins, or until golden on top.
Boy, this potato casserole is so creamy. You'll think the potatoes were melting in your mouth.

A Labor Day Party is the perfect idea for a day to relax and celebrate. Invitations for this party could have a barbeque, a back yard scene, or a bucket of beer on them. As your Labor Day Party is a way to honor workers for all their efforts, make your outdoor area a relaxing atmosphere with hammocks, comfortable lounge chairs, lawn blankets and lots of pillows. In addition to the usual patriotic decorations, you could add some fall colors like rich oranges, gelds and yellows. You could also add tike torches and twinkle lights if the party goes into the evening. If you are having a larger bash, these activities would be a blast: divide the group into two teams for a game of flag football, softball or volleyball. Smaller groups could play bocce, horseshoes or croquet. Say goodbye to summer with the season's bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables: sun-kissed tomatoes, sweet corn and juicy berries. For the hardier appetites try lobster, steaks, ribs, chicken and all the side salads and dishes. Dessert could be messy but delicious if you have a make-your-own sundae bar. And last but not least, you could serve fruit cobbler or a berry crisp.
