Simple Crockpot BBQ There can be other things on your menu for Oktoberfest besides Beer and Sausage. Delight the guests with this tasty Crockpot BBQ dish. It uses a dry rub mix that's going to have your guests yelling Wilkomen! 1 1/2 lb. boneless chuck steak, 1 1/2 inch thick 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced 1/4 cup wine vinegar 1 Tbsp brown sugar 1 tsp paprika 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup catsup 1 tsp salt 1 tsp dry or prepared mustard 1/4 tsp black pepper Cut the beef on a diagonal, across the grain into slices 1 inch wide. Place these in the crockpot. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over the meat, and mix. Cover and cook on Low for 3 to 5 hours. Every time I have a tailgate party or throw an Oktoberfest, I make up this BBQ. It really makes the meat tender for sandwiches. |

Planning an Oktoberfest Party will be fun and easy. Start with your invitations which will announce this great time of year and maybe put a picture of a keg of beer on the cover. Use fall colors to accentuate the season in your invites and decorations. Hold your party outside as they do in Munich and decorate the tables with linens in the colors of the German flag: black, red and gold. Play traditional German music during your party and give your guests kazoos to play along. Don't forget to do the 'chicken dance' and when your guests get tired of that, line them up for beer stein races. The person with the most beer in their stein at the end of the race is the winner. Beer steins will make great prizes. Purchase a keg or two of German beer or select a variety of bottled German labels for your party. These are some of the foods and drink of an Oktoberfest party: potato soup, sausages, hot German potato salad, sauerkraut, sweet and sour cabbage, German style chicken, dumplings and beer.
