Olympic cupcakes come to the scene every four years when the games take place. The Olympic event is a big one and parties that take place during Olympics are usually large gatherings with a formal theme.
Although family and friend parties are also held in some cities especially in neighborhoods where there is an active sporting culture, most of the celebrations are held at sport clubs or among teams. Regardless of where the party is being held, food is necessary. And the most popular, easiest and filling option is of course cupcakes.
When planning a themed party, you need special party supplies that would match the party theme in both color and artwork. There are a number of party supplies available for customizing cupcakes as well. Markets are full of a variety of items in various price ranges, so there is always something for everyone.
Cupcakes can be customized in a variety of ways. You can use different colored icing or you can use food colors. The Olympic theme has five colors, so you’ll need to make cupcakes in all five colors. The easy way to do it is to make one big mixture and then divide it into five bowls. Once this is done, you can add the food color to each bowl. This will save you a lot of time in beating and mixing ingredients.
Here is a good recipe for the basic cupcakes mixture i.e. before you add the food color.
• 2 cups sifted cake flour
• 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 9 tablespoons butter, softened
• 3/4 cup milk
• 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
• 2 large eggs
First grease a cupcake baking pan and place paper liners on it. Take a large bowl and mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. To this add the butter, milk and vanilla and use an electric mixer to beat for a few minutes. Next add the eggs and beat for a few more minutes.
Now you can distribute the mixture into five different bowls and add the food color. You can easily get food color from a party supplies shop.
Use a spatula to spoon out the mixture into the paper cups till they are half full. Bake in a preheated oven at 350.F for about half an hour.
Decorate appropriately and your cupcakes are ready to be served!
