High Class German Chocolate Cake You can reward your guests at that Oscar party with this classy German Chocolate Cake recipe. It's just perfect for anyone who is feeling down in the dumps over their favorite actor not winning an Oscar this year. 4 oz german sweet chocolate 1/2 cup boiling water 1 cup butter 2 cups sugar 4 egg yolks 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten 1 tsp vanilla 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup buttermilk Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, add egg yolks, vanilla, and chocolate. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Fold in egg whites. Pour into three 9" pans, lined on bottoms with wax paper. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Frost tops with Coconut Pecan Frosting, leaving sides unfrosted. Coconut Pecan Filling and Frosting 1 cup evaporated milk 1 cup sugar 3 egg yolks 1/2 cup butter 1 tsp vanilla 1 1/3 cup coconut 1 cup chopped pecans Combine all except coconut and pecans in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, about 12 minutes. When mixture thickens, remove from heat. Stir in coconut and pecans. Cool until spreadable. So my friends are always asking for this cake on their b-days…they think I'm like a pro chef or something…but it gets me into a lot of parties! |

What a blast an Oscar Party will be. Tack up the movie posters and lay out the red carpet for friends and loved ones to come to your fabulous Oscar Party. Hire fake paparazzi to yell out names of the guests as they arrive and snap pictures. The invitations could reflect the Hollywood scene and say something like "You have been nominated For Best Guest and 'the Winner' is you” The activities will of course include an Oscar Party Pool Sheet with prizes for the most correct guesses. You could also have a costume party with prizes for the best dressed (male and female). These prizes should be small plastic Oscars. Give each guest a bag of popcorn and their choice of junior mints, raisonets and ju ju fruits to enjoy while watching the Oscars. An Buffet table with snacks like cheese and crackers, olives, chips and dip will be great for starters then you can serve some more elaborate dishes like Shrimp Oscar, Bombshell Cocktails, Veal Oscar, Hollywood Cheesecake, Star shaped Cookies and of course, Oscar Cocktails.
